The last, the least and the lost.

The last, the least and the lost.

I'm not sure i like this phrase very much but i do like the thinking behind it. It's something that is on my heart a little bit. For some reason i enjoy working with the people that are hard work, (don't hold me to that) the ones that need the extra help. Back to the point its a short but simple one that brings up more questions than it does answers.

Being a Christian youth worker are your really doing this? (working with the last, the least and the lost?) my thinking behind this is because you are always or 90% of the time working with the found? or are they lost in another respect? let me know what you think it really does interest me!

I love the way you questions things Rosie. Don't put yourself down because you find it hard to articulate, you ask important questions that are very relevant. We should all show love towards the "last, least and lost".

I've tended to find that most church-based youth workers focus on the young people within their reach and many of those are already saved. However this work is just as vital as reaching the lost because we must mentor and disciple Christian young people to understand all that God has for them (look at your own history for a good example ;)).

There are also a huge number of Christian youth workers who dedicate their time to reaching the lost. Sometimes this is in church situations, but mostly through Christian charities, para-church organisations or statutory agencies. Theirs is often a thankless and difficult job.

Personally I think we all need to get some perspective and view the bigger picture. If we worked together (across denominations and theologies) to reach the lost and then disciple them, rather than arguing which work is more important, then we would all be far more effective!
